Carrying on

A couple of years ago, I got one of those Keep Calm and Carry On posters from Barter Books after seeing it on apartment therapy sf. Then it seemed unusual and funky. It appealed to my constant quest for tranquility and quiet mindfulness. Mum hates it. Whenever she looks at it she just wants to tell the poster to "sod off".
(Now of course they're everywhere. (Google it and you'll see what I mean). I even saw a pic of Rupert Grint wearing the slogan on his t-shirt at the last Harry Potter movie premiere.)

I mention this because I think, for the most part, keeping calm and carrying on is what most Victorians are trying to do in the face of the most mind-blowing adversity. We are all terribly sad. Most people here seem to know someone who has been directly or indirectly affected by the fires. No more than one or two degrees of separation.

This is all I can say:

Donations to help people affected can be made to the Red Cross 2009 Bushfire Appeal

Donations to help animals affected can be made to the RSPCA Victoria

If you are in Australia and are eligible, please consider making a blood donation.
