Falling off the (unofficial) wagon...

Does it count as breaking your yarn diet if you never officially declared yourself on one?

Handmaiden Casbah Sock in Aurora. (soft... mmmm.... soft.....)

Dream in Color Smooshy in Plum Paisley (I just had to see what all the fuss was about.... And I can now report that smooshy is the perfect product name)

Crazy Zauberball (this stuff just looked like fun - it was the catalyst for the splurge...)

These all came from Simply Socks Yarn Company where I window shop... a lot... and buy... occasionally. Allison has a really great selection of sock yarns and her international shipping is reasonably priced and pretty speedy.

My crystal ball tells me that it can also see more yarn in my near future. Given that Morris and Sons has just opened near where I work and they're having their winter sale at the moment, I'm not surprised....

Purple Frivol

DSC03117, originally uploaded by Paisley Womble.

Over at Too hot to knit? Never!, Lynne is hosting a "Winter of Textured Knitting KAL".

Here's a little contribution on my part. A "sans bobbles" Frivol hat - baby sized. 200 gm balls of Bendigo yarn make an excellent substitute for a baby's head for photographic purposes.

The hand-dyed purple is from Marta's Yarns. It's 8 ply merino and beautifully soft. I love this stuff.

Some swag...

We have a small whiteboard that sits in front of the reference desk at work on which my boss usually writes up a couple of newsworthy headlines from the day's papers.

Today is a slow news day (until tonight when the Federal budget gets released) so the fact that it is my birthday has been plastered all over the whiteboard instead. Which means that I'm getting a constant stream of "Happy Birthday"s. Which is nice - if a little unnerving.

My "twin" Genevieve and I swap pressies every year and I'm feeling very spoilt. Genevieve has sent me....

...a book;

some sock yarn;

some laceweight yarn;

and some choccies (in consumption as we speak - no piccies)

Thank you Genevieve! Happy Birthday to you too!

New shoes, new socks

DSC03099, originally uploaded by Paisley Womble.

My name is Paisley and I am a Keens addict. This is my third pair and I have no intention of going cold turkey.

The socks are the second instalment of my six books project. Textured mosaic patterns from More Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch. These were the perfect project for using up leftover partial-balls of sock yarn. In hindsight, this wasn't the best colour combination to select for the mosaic pattern to jump out. More contrast is really required. But they're comfy and I like the way they look nonetheless.
